Islamabad: Parliament resumed its joint session in Islamabad today with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
At the outset, the joint sitting offered Fateha for those killed in yesterday’s earthquake in the country.
On the bill, seeking Conversion of Pakistan International Airlines into a public limited company, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar told the House that the committee has made amendments in the bill with consensus.
Ishaq Dar pointed out that the government could pass the PIA bill with majority but it still pursued the course of negotiations to sort out the matter with consensus.
He gave the commitment that all the administrative actions against the employees will be withdrawn by tomorrow.
Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid said that the genuine demands of the opposition members have been accommodated in the proposed bill and rights of employees have been duly protected.
He presented before the House reports of a ten-member committee on “The Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (Conversion) Bill, 2016”, “The Emigration (Amendment) Bill, 2014”, “The Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2014”, “The Anti-Rape Laws (Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill, 2015” and “The Privatization Commission (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015”.
