Karachi (Online): The Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad has lauded the efforts of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi in eradication of corruption.
He stated this during a cheque distribution ceremony held at Governor House Karachi, wherein he was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
On the occasion Governor reiterated the extension of cooperation for harmonious working to get rid of the scourge of corruption from all the departments and organizations of Govt of Sindh across the board.
DG NAB Karachi presented cheques amounting to Rs270 million recovered from corrupt persons / officers for distribution among various departments of Govt of Sindh and individual affectees. The event was attended by DG NAB and representatives of various departments of Govt of Sindh and individual affectees.
NAB Karachi recovered Rs 270 million in prominent cases which led to recovery include case against NBP, OGDCL, WAPDA, Saudi Pak Industrial, Agricultural Investment Company Ltd, Pakistan Post Office, Local Government, Works & Services, Irrigation, Food, Health Department Govt of Sindh and a Builder.
The amount was recovered under the provision of Law through voluntary return / plea bargain by NAB (K) and which was handed over to the representatives of concerned departments. Whereas, 68 rightful owners were given recovered lease, title and possession documents of the flats and shops worth Rs160 million by the Governor.
Out of Rs270 million a cheque of Rs 213 million was handed over to representative of Local Government, Works & Services, Irrigation, Food, Health Department Govt of Sindh through Chief Secretary Govt of Sindh which was recovered through PB / VR. Rs. 5 Million handed over to Saudi Pak Industrial and Agricultural Investment Company Ltd (SPIAICO).
The amount was recovered in an investigation against Directors / Guarantors of A.H International (Pvt) Ltd ( AHIL). Rs.2.1 million handed over to representative of State Life Insurance Pakistan in a case against Schon Group. Rs.1.3 million handed over to NBP in a pension scam case NBP Branch Hyderabad.
Rs. 262,894/- handed over to representative of WAPDA in a case of breach of trust / misappropriation of public funds and caused wrongful loss to the Public Exchequer. A cheque of Rs.176,520/- was handed over to representative of OGDCL in as case of pilferage of diesel at OGDCL Tando Alam filed.
In an opening address DG NAB Karachi highlighted the achievements of NAB and efforts to eradicale corruption and providing relief to general public / affectees looted through corruption.
DG NAB Karachi also assured that NAB will continue to proactively work in the interest of country and public in order to recover hard eran looted money of innocent people and to bring them to justice by using all resources.
