Islamabad:Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said he will resign and go home if proven guilty by the Panama Papers probe.

In his address to the nation on Friday, Prime Minister said “I once again present myself and my family up for accountability,” PM Nawaz said. “The day allegations against me are proved; I will not hesitate for a moment and go home”.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also announced that he would write a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan for setting up of a Commission to probe allegations being levelled against his family in the wake of Panama Leaks.

The Prime Minister said he would accept the verdict of the Commission and quit the office if proved guilty. He, however, added that whether people would forgive those who are levelling baseless allegations and their claims proved untrue in investigations by the Commission. He said whether they would apologize from the nation.

Nawaz Sharif categorically stated that neither he nor his family is involved in any illegal business activity, nor they took commissions or kickbacks. Despite all this, he presents himself and his family for accountability as this is the democratic tradition.

Claiming the ruling PML-N believed in good governance, transparency and an end to corruption, he said even international organisations had acknowledged his party’s record of good governance.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said some elements are inflicting huge losses to the country because of their fascist attitude. They are harming the country in their lust for power.

The Prime Minister, however, firmly stated that the Government would complete its five-year term. He said those indulging in propaganda against PML-N know that the Government would win the next elections as it would succeed in taking fruits of development to the grassroots. They are, therefore, seeing writing on the wall and are apprehensive of their likely electoral defeat.

Rejecting all allegations, he said his family had been paying taxes when paying taxes was unfashionable. Nawaz said his family had been made accountable for each and every moment and would be accountable in the future as well

The Prime Minister said he has a vision of a safe, prosperous and bright Pakistan but his critics want to waste precious time and energy of the nation by indulging in politics of allegations. The Prime Minister said he cannot be cowed down by threats as he is only accountable to people of Pakistan after Almighty Allah.

Nawaz Sharif said he was born in Pakistan and die in Pakistan. He also appealed to media to verify facts before airing them.
