ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has full stop the stadium for public gathering at D-Chowk also known as Parade Lane.
“We moved machinery to D-Chowk on Sunday and after cordoning off the area, we have started dismantling the stadium,” Shahid Sohail , CDA Member Engineering.
Whereas on Friday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in a press conference promulgated that in future there will no sort of public gathering in D-Chowk and then told City Development Authority to change the look of Parade stadium immediately so that the area is properly reshaped.
Chaudhry Nasir Ali Khan added, That Unfortunately D-Chowk had been used for political purposes pointing out to hundred of thousands pro-Qadri supporter that had taken over parade line for three days.
The government had taken this step just to ensure to protect the public life including buildings, also the workers in the capital Islamabad. Nasir said that therefore government took decision to put the area for another use.
Chaudhry Nasir Ali Khan told Capital Administration and Development Division and the ministry of interior to gather proposal for the future use of the area. This proposal will further be approved by Cabinet.
“It is yet to be decided what will be established here,” said Mr Sohail, moreover added that, the entrance of public in the area is restricted.
The stadium at D-Chowk had the capacity of thousands of people single year on March 23 who would come and amused to see the parade.
For many year now, area is not used for parade just because Pakistan Army built new paraede ground in Shakarparian.
Mainstreaming government faced the protests by Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and then the pro-Qadri protests, all held at D-Chowk.
