Karachi: Polling for by-elections in National Assembly constituency NA-245 Karachi and Provincial Assembly constituency PS-115 Karachi is in progress.
Polling will continue without any break till 5:00 pm.
All major parties have fielded their candidates for both the constituencies.
It may be recalled that NA-245 and PS-115 fell vacant because of resignations of MQM’s Rehan Hashmi and Arshad Vohra after they were elected in local bodies’ elections.
PTI candidate in NA-245 Amjadullah Khan has announced to withdraw from by-election, quit PTI and join MQM.
Addressing a news conference in Karachi, he crtiticised the PTI leadership and said the party leaders did not support him in his election campaign. He said even the party workers demanded money from him for serving as polling agents.
MQM leaders Aamir Khan and Kunwar Jamil, who were present on the occasion, welcomed Amjadullah Khan into the party.
Sindh Government has made strict security arrangements at both the constituencies.
Meanwhile, Director General Sindh Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar visited polling station number 70 of PS-115 in Islamia College in Karachi.
He reviewed the law and order situation and security arrangements at the polling station.
It may be pointed out that almost all polling stations at PS-115 have been declared either sensitive or highly sensitive.
