On Monday, a suicide invader detonated a bomb in a chiefly Shi’ite Muslim district of the eastern Baghdad on Monday, killing over 10 people, and wounding over 38 others.
The security & medical sources, said it to be the 3rd such blast in 4 days in the capital.
Islamic State (IS) confessed that it’s responsible for explosion which went off near a cinema in Baghdad al-Jadida.
The Amaq news agency that supports the group, said that the suicide bomber had worn a suicide vest, adding that he had targeted the Iraqi security forces.
Blast set fire to at least 5 other vehicles on the busy commercial street during the evening rush hour, said the sources.
Security has slowly but surely improved in Baghdad, which was a target of the daily bombings about a decade ago, however the attacks against security forces & the Shi’ite civilians are still recurrent.
Around 12 people died on Saturday in 2 separate car bomb attacks that had targeted the security forces, while a suicide attack at the Shi’ite mosque following the Friday prayers had left 9 additional dead. IS (Islamic State) claimed that it was behind both the attacks.
The upsurge of militants, who’re fighting the govt. forces over the control of bands of northern & western Iraq, has aggravated a sectarian conflict, mostly between Sunnis & Shi’ites, that that emerged after the invasion that was led by the United States in year 2013
